Co-founder of People’s Yoga and East LA urban folk band, Las Cafeteras, Leah is a body positive yoga instructor, professional musician, and new mom. People’s Yoga, the first and only yoga studio in East LA, is a women-owned small business offering multi-generational and bilingual yoga and wellness practice focused on self-care. With a mission of strengthening neighborhoods through mind-body practices and community building, Leah, and her business partner Lauren, are making yoga accessible, warm, relevant, and unique to the people they work with. Leah is also a lead singer, songwriter, and percussionist with Las Cafeteras, a band remixing roots music and telling modern day stories. Before People’s Yoga and Las Cafeteras, Leah was an aspiring soccer player, who received a full scholarship to play soccer at USC and went on to pursue a career in professional soccer. Leah combines her experience playing professional soccer, with her experience in curanderismo, singing, and creative expression, along with her love for family, to cultivate healing spaces that empower and remind others of their own innate power and resilience. Recently, Leah gave birth to a baby girl and is excited to master mompreneurship while also working to foster spaces focused on self-care for moms.
