As our second annual #WeAllGrow Summit came to an end, the attendees gathered in the Hotel Maya's Lagunita Pavilion one last time to listen to the much anticipated Storytellers, presented by YouTube. This year the submissions for this event had surpassed our expectations. From over eighty submissions, six storytellers were selected as finalists to present their own unique story and voice to our diverse community.

Our storytellers touched everyone in the room from laughs to tears of emotion, We could not have been more proud.

Kathy Cano-Murillo of Crafty Chica

Our host and moderator, Kathy Cano-Murillo of Crafty Chica shared a story about the time her youngest daughter fell in love for the first time and how she quickly became a helicopter mom. Being the ultimate bohemian couple with her husband, she tried to stay optimistic while her husband knew her daughter’s new boyfriend was oncoming traffic.

While being caught in the middle between her husband and daughter for the first time, Kathy knew she wanted what was best for her daughter but still wanted to respect her and her relationship. She concluded by sharing how it’s a learning process when dealing with your children’s love life and reminded us all to always to stay connected with your child.

Gaby Natale of SuperLatina took the stage to share the story of when she was a recent graduate in search of her dream job. Life did not turn our as planned. In 2001, she found herself unemployed. She did not allow that situation to defeat her. She worked that much harder to land a position that would eventually skyrocket her into the super Latina she is today.

During her story, she shared these words from mom with attendees, "Always bring your A-game because you never know when opportunity will come knocking at your door!" Gaby also never takes an opportunity for granted because she knows what it's like to not have any and she encouraged us all to take that approach in life as well.

Showing that women are warriors, she concluded by saying, "Don't play it safe. It could be the riskiest move ever."

Next to take the stage, Denise Cortes of Pear Mama shared the story of when her parenting as a mother came into a full circle. Her story recalls a tense night between her and her husband as they discussed the state of their marriage.

Later that night she was comforted by her first son Noah. “That’s where I felt my parenting came full circle, it was no longer mother and child. I let that pretense down and let my son see me at my weakest point”, Denise recalled. Her story taught us that when we let our guard down as parents, all the love and care that we instill into our children as parents is given back to us in times when we need it most.

Eliana Tardio took the #WeAllGrow stage and discussed the importance of taking care of children with special needs. She described the heartbreaking first time she heard and felt a prejudice towards her special needs son. After that, she vowed to be one of the voices to make sure something like that never happened again to another child.

She encouraged parents to be the ones to stand up for their children and be their biggest cheerleaders. But the greatest lesson she passed on to us? Her children taught her that people who love you will accept you as you are, which is something we all need to remind ourselves!

Next to take the stage was Youtuber Nancy Salas, who shared an emotional childhood story of the time her mother suffered from a terrible stroke and became paralyzed. Through this life changing event at the age of nine, she felt unprepared growing up, as she was sheltered from seeing her mother in this condition. Through this troubling time as a child, she felt she lost her childhood and her family.

Through time she learned how to heal herself inside and bring about this inner peace that was broken for so long.  The lesson she ultimately learned from this tragedy was to prepare your children for the world and the unexpected, embrace your inner child, give love where it is needed and let the pain from the past drive you.

Storytellers continued with Yvonne Condes of Moms LA, who discussed how important it is for Latino children to feel good in their skin. She wanted her sons to understand their Mexican heritage but also to not feel like they didn't belong because of it - something that Yvonne has personally experienced.

She never wanted her sons to feel like they were too Latino or not Latino enough but rather that their Mexican identity is something to be embraced and celebrated. She concluded by saying, "Whatever my boys say about me someday, I hope they say it lovingly and I hope they say it in Spanish!"

Lastly, Marinés Duarte of En Tus Zapatos Blog shared the story of when she was a little girl with big dreams of moving to the U.S. to study and play tennis. She faced many obstacles before her dreams came true but she did not let those hurdles keep her from achieving what she wanted.

She practiced tennis day and night, every afternoon and weekend in hopes of gaining a sports scholarship. All her hard work paid off. By the age of sixteen, she was ranked top ten in the nation. And year later, she was in the U.S. ready to play tennis.

Her excitement for what she had anticipated for so long quickly diminished, as she found herself not fitting with her new team. While her coach made her time miserable, she kept focused and determined to make it to the national championships. Eventually she did just that for four years in a row. Marinés continues to still hold the school's record till this day .

She concluded our #WeAllGrow Summit 2016 with one key message that we could not agree more with, “Latinas are the perfect combination between a warrior and a princess.”

Through all of our diverse stories and backgrounds our voices as Latinas come together because when one grows, we all grow.

From informative sessions to meticulous tablescapes, #WeAllGrow Summit has a reputation for leaving no stone unturned when it comes to details. The team along with our sponsors worked diligently to make sure our attendees felt and looked their absolute best during their three-day stay.

#WeAllGrow Summit took over Hotel Maya, literally. From the Pavillion to the Esplanade, guests could get their hair, makeup and nails done as well as enjoy the artwork on display at the Latina Maker’s Market in between sessions. The backdrop of the pier and the beautiful walkways of the hotel created a relaxing and picturesque experience for everyone to enjoy.

When Neutrogena announced #VerasQueEsPosible, they were not kidding. Their suite, which was completely restructured and redesigned for guests, was more like a vacation spa retreat with mimosas, treats and breathtaking views. Celebrity makeup artists Elizabeth Ulloa and Erick Cuesta were on-hand to make sure appointments went smoothly and that everyone’s look was on point. And if that wasn’t enough, attendees also received personal style tips from celebrity stylist Claudia Zuleta of Claudia Fashions, who styled Gaby Espino’s black and white keynote look.

Neutrogena knows very well that no makeup look is complete without photos! Hello? Bloggers, anyone? Without a photo there’s no proof it happened. There was a studio set-up for anyone who wished to get a new headshot, and we must say, everyone looked flawless.

Going beyond products and makeup, the suite encapsulated what #WeAllGrow Summit is about with discussions about skincare with Dermatologist Dr. Bertha Baum and moments of reflection at the #MyIntent station, where bloggers shared their word of inspiration.

And speaking of beauty, can we get an amen on those smoothies everyone was raving about? They were all types of delicious. Aveeno out-did themselves when it came to awakening our tastebuds while making sure we beautify from the inside out. Our personal favorite was the Tummy smoothie with fresh papaya, vanilla yogurt, coconut milk, shredded coconut, raisins, and cinnamon.

Brand Ambassador and lifestyle expert Kika Rocha also stopped by the suite to share her popular #TipsdeKika and new book, which is beautifully illustrated with words of empowerment.

The pampering did not end there. Do you think we can have more than 350 Latinas in one place and not have a suite dedicated hair? And did we mention celebrity hair stylist Mario Anton was there, too? The conference looked like one big hair commercial, we kid you not.

Dermatologist Dr. Alicia Barba was also there to discuss skincare, particularly in the area no one really talks about: the underarms! We were very thankful to have had Dove Dry Spray handy as we ran from session to session (with our fabulous hair)!

The suite also included a manicure station and an intimate lounge area made luxurious by plenty of lilies, a stunning white faux fur rug, fragrant soaps and chocolates. Guests left the suite with plenty of selfie opportunities with a backdrop of downtown Long Beach and unbelievably good lighting.

Transitions and VisionWorks kept the day stylish with a fun tour of Los Angeles with hosts, celebrity eyewear designers Coco + Breezy! Attendees learned all about the twins’ humble beginnings in the eyewear industry and connected over a delicious vegan Mexican lunch at the popular LA restaurant, Gracias Madre. Coco and Breezy set the tone for the rest of the day as they DJ’d from their phones on the tour bus and danced with attendees as they headed back to the studio for their very own photoshoot with Transitions + VisionWorks. Long Beach Conventions and Visitor Bureau

As if the #WeAllGrow Summit and Latina Bloggers Connect teams didn’t suffer enough FOMO (we had meetings in lieu of trips), a group of over 40 attendees got to take in the beautiful sites of our host city, Long Beach. They started the day off with a boat tour that revisited the history of Long Beach’s scenic harbor. They were able to sit back and chat with each other while enjoying a breathtaking view of the city’s skyline and world famous Queen Mary. Shortly after their boat tour they headed to the Museum of Latin American Art located in the East Village Arts District of Long Beach. While there, Latina Bloggers had the opportunity to view MOLAA At Twenty 1996-2016 Exhibition, an extensive collection of U.S. Latino and Chicano art. A short bus ride over next led them to the Aquarium of the Pacific for a delicious lunch with a view and a VIP behind-the-scenes guided tour of the aquarium. Lastly, it wouldn’t have been a true tour of Long Beach without visiting the historic Queen Mary. Attendees wrapped up their daylong tour of Long Beach with a guided tour of the legendary ship.

Disney Parks

Disney Parks celebrated 60 years of magic with #WeAllGrow Summit attendees! Guests explored both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure and enjoyed rides like Star Tours and Radiator Springs Racers. Rides were followed by a beautiful day listening to the Mickey Mouse marching band and #Disneyland60 celebrations throughout the park. The day ended with a group photo of all the bloggers and creators that attended this fabulous field trip.

There’s nothing quite like visiting the YouTube Space in Los Angeles to really bring the power of its influence to life. #LatinaCreators were excited to see and experience the place they’ve virtually known and loved for so long! Guests were once again blown away by the size of YouTube Space LA and the amount of resources available to those who wish to create a channel. Many came back from their trip ready to step up their game by perfecting their SEO, upping their video content and making better use of YouTube’s analytics to further understand their audiences.

Mazda knows that #DrivingMatters, especially when you’re cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway. Attendees drove down Ocean Drive to Huntington Beach Pier in style in the brand new CX-5 before heading to the award-winning Parker’s Lighthouse for a seafood lunch in Long Beach. The day ended with a tour of the beautiful and culturally rich Museum of Latin American Art.

Beautiful. Ugly. Smart. Stupid. The power of words can have a significant impact on how we feel about ourselves and how we present ourselves to the world – whether it’s in real life or online. Too often, social media bombards women and girls with negative content that can damage their self-­esteem. Dove research shows 8 out of 10 women encounter negative comments on social media that critique women’s looks. With this in mind, Dove set out to overturn the pervasive online negativity and embarked on a partnership with Twitter to encourage women to #SpeakBeautiful and turn ugly tweets into beautiful, positive ones. Hola! USA's Art Installation with artist Carolina Rubio MacWright

Hola! USA’s art installation will be an artist- led collaboration with participation from #WeAllGrow Summit 2016 attendees. Our community of Latina creators will take part in personalizing an origami globe of multiple colors by writing onto them a wish or desire before then blowing life into them, symbolizing our intentions at #WeAllGrow Summit.

The 400 globes will then hang from a gazebo and display the collective dreams and desires of the #WeAllGrow Latina creators community. We will also be displaying an original painting made by the artist, inspired by the Latinas of this year's event. This installation serves as an opportunity for #WeAllGrow attendees to honor their success stories, while accepting the challenge of saying HOLA! USA.

Carolina Rubio MacWright, lead artist of the Hola! USA Installation at #WeAllGrow Summit 2016, was born in Bogotá, Colombia, where she lived until age 20, when a need for a safer place to call home was necessary. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Fine Art. After graduation, she felt the need to understand the legal system, at which point she moved to Oklahoma City where she received her Juris Doctorate Degree. Her time in Oklahoma's legal world, practicing criminal law, civil rights and mostly immigration law opened her eyes to the realities of the broken American criminal and immigration law system. Inspiration that keeps her up at night, making pieces that memorialize these stories. She is currently a full-time activist artist-mom in Brooklyn, NY.
