1. What does the word "Grow" mean to you in your blogging career?
The word "grow" is one with infinite possibilities that reflects both an individual and collective potential. In growing, we learn, thrive, connect and support in ways that spark and propel. My blogging aims to share pieces of that journey. On the more technical side, growth also involves constantly learning and improving that sharing process by connecting with others, learning about new tools and techniques, and being open to that constant exchange of information and ideas.
2. What excites you about growth?
I love learning, experimenting, and connecting. Growth encompasses all of those and so much more. The constant challenge to improve myself and my blog is most certainly a welcome challenge. There are so many tools out there that can help some of my ideas come to life. I am excited to connect with a like-minded community that can help propel me in that way and where I can share some of my strengths for all of us to succeed together.
3. How can one community grow together?
The tagline “when one grows, we all grow” resonates with me in a deep and soulful way. My life’s work has consisted of giving back in various forms and I am very drawn to communities that draw on the spirit of comadrazgo. When we share our resources and support one another, we elevate each other; we become examples, advocates, mentors, and comadres rich in resources, knowledge, and information. That collective energy is uplifting and creates a collective culture of abundance that we can each contribute to and draw from as we work on our individual goals.
4. How do you proactively help others grow?
I originally founded my blog, Citlali Rose, as an online shop of handcrafted artesania as a means to channel my creative energy out of sheer financial necessity. I am a mother to three witty girls, ages 2, 5, and 8, and my middle child was born in 2009. Her birth pretty much launched me into blogging to save my sanity. She was born with a combination of birth anomalies with no known cause requiring a series of surgeries to correct. Because of that experience, I started blogging by way of my personal blog at www.perfectlittleme.com. The blog helped me share my story with family members and to connect with other mothers who have navigated the challenges and joys of raising an anomalous child. During that time, Citlali Rose was an online shop that helped pay for the gargantuan medical bills for my daughter’s multiple surgeries.
Throughout the process of blogging about our journey, I came to realize how critical the creative process had been to preserving my own sanity -- from writing, to crafting, to sewing, and everything in between. In that spirit, and after years of encouragement, I decided to expand my creative online shop into a blog space that embraces personal power through creative inspiration. Citlali Rose has evolved into a blog that values culture, creativity, and well-being, and my sincere hope is that my readers will find a spark, a gem, some glitter, or a nugget of wisdom in the midst of my shenanigans. From that frame, my work is about acting on my passion for helping folks tap into their swagger while living and thriving in self-defined beauty and authenticity. I also offer personal coaching services to help carry that philosophy into my clients’ lives in practical and sustainable ways.
5. What do you hope to get out of #WeAllGrow Summit?
I have this silly process where I like to try to figure things out for myself before asking for help. I am more on the introverted end of the spectrum, but at the same time, I crave community and I definitely know I need help! Citlali Rose is fairly “new” as a blog, and I am looking to take it to the next level and activate so many of my ideas that are tied to both my ambition and well-being. I’m looking to break old habits by asking for help earlier in the process. I also look forward to becoming a part of a community of like-minded Latinas, where I can gain a more solid presence, create those connections, and build relationships. I would love to see my general strengths carry over and reflect in my blog in ways that improve the quality of life for my family and for my readers. All of these pieces speak to me, and I look forward to connecting with a community where I can also give back and help expand the network of strong, capable, and successful Latinas in the blogosphere.
